The Infiniti Q60 Coupe just arrived to compete with the BMW 4 serious coupe, the outdated Audi A5 Coupe and off course the Lexus RC-F.
In this post we will put together the Lexus RC-F with the top of the line Q60 into a debate and see which one is worth your money!?
Weight: Both cars are heavy with around 4000 LBS (1800 KG). Both get absolute Zero!
Engine: The old school V8 in the RC-F is pushing 467HP to the crank while the new V6 twin turbo VR engine in the Q60 is pushing 400HP to the Crank. The VR engine weight less than the RC-F v8 and have more potential for tuners modifications. So 1 point go to the Q60.
Transmission: The RC-F got the 8-Speed Auto SPDS Transmission that have one of the best smooth Torque Converters and a transmission shifting speed that is equal to double clutch shifting. While Infiniti still using the old 7 Speed Auto with the boring slow shifting. So 1 point for the RC-F.
Styling: I can’t take all people feedback in styling but for my personal taste, the new Lexus Alien space ship style is just not my cup of tea, the shape of the RC-F doesn’t give you the feeling that its a sport car, it look FAT with too much curves that my eyes can’t handle, unfortunately they didn’t carry over the smoothens of the SC300 (off course am talking about the Soarer here) while the Infiniti Q60 smooth dynamic design with a touch of simplicity really got into me. The Q60 have a huge potential for aftermarket styling modifications. So obviously no cigar for the RC-F and 1 point for the Q60.
Suspension: Both cars using new suspension technologies RC-F using double wishbone front suspension rear is multi-link with toe control arm the suspension also use Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) – variable damper system designed to enhance ride comfort and body lean control, contributing to natural, smooth changes in vehicle attitude, the Q60 also use an all-new electronic suspension system, Dynamic Digital Suspension, comes standard on the Q60 Sport grades. I will consider them equal.
Steering: The RC-F Electric power steering (EPS) automatically changes the steering gear ratio in response to vehicle speed and driving conditions it called VGRS. With the Q60, Infiniti released the second Generation of Direct Adaptive steering wheel which transmits the driver’s input to the wheels faster than a mechanical system while requiring fewer steering corrections and this option only available if you add 1000$. The Infiniti Q60 by default use electric power steering (EPS) rack just like the RC-F & it use the hydraulic with electronic assist in the 4 cylinder model. So far nobody recommended the directive adaptive steering because the lack of feedback. EPS in both cars as standard. So each car will get 1 point.
Final Verdict: I will not talk about technology features such as number of speakers or the size of screen etc… because this is not sport car consumers priority. In this debate the RC-F got 3 points and Q60 Got 4 points. Both cars competing strong against their German rivals, the Q60 outperform most cars with the same price tag. With 400hp and 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds its dominating this segment & don’t forget the huge potential for after-market parts.
